Viotti was born in Fontanetto Po, near Vercelli, and passed away in London. He is regarded as the most influential Piedmontese musician in history. A composer of great vitality, a virtuoso violinist, innovator and musician admired by Mozart, Haydn and Brahms, as well as the inventor of the modern bow, Viotti represents a fundamental step on the path to great 19th century music.

Born and raised in Cremona at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries, Stradivari is universally recognised as one of the best violin makers of all time. Viotti’s exquisite violins are now cherished worldwide, and thanks to him, the legend surrounding his name began. He was in fact among the very first to perform with his instruments, in Paris, London and the European courts, and in all he owned no less than 12.

Conceived to offer visitors a true experience, through an immersive, hi-tech set-up, the exhibition tells the story of Viotti’s personal and artistic life and his relationship with the Stradivari violins. Dialogues, dramatised monologues, actor’s narration (with the participation of actor Pierpaolo Spollon), videos, music, immersive and interactive experiences lead the visitor into a unique event of beauty and knowledge.

At the end of the immersive tour, the violin ‘vault: an extraordinary exhibition of some of the precious violins that belonged to Viotti (including some Stradivarius of special historical and artistic interest).
